Scale: How Does the HEALBE Smart Scale Work?

Smart Scale, how it works, measurement of proteins and fats

Written by Maria

The HEALBE Smart Scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to estimate your body composition. This technology works by measuring how your body tissues resist a small electrical current.

How the scale works:

  • Bioimpedance sensors
The surface of the scale contains sensors that make contact with your bare feet during the measurement.

  • Safe electrical signal
When you step on the scale, a very low and completely harmless electrical current passes through your body. You won’t feel it.

  • Resistance differences between tissues

    • Fat tissue contains less water and resists the electrical current more.

    • Muscle tissue contains more water and conducts the current more easily.

  • Data analysis
The scale uses your body’s resistance data along with internal algorithms to estimate:

    • Fat mass

    • Muscle mass

    • Bone mass

    • Body water percentage

    • Basal metabolic rate and other related indicators

Does the scale measure proteins and fats directly?

No. The scale does not detect proteins or fats directly. Instead, it measures the electrical resistance of your tissues to indirectly estimate the ratio of fat and muscle mass in your body.

How to take a measurement:

Step onto the scale with bare feet. The scale will automatically perform the analysis and sync the results with the HEALBE app (if Bluetooth connection is active).
