How Does GoBe Track Calorie Intake?

GoBe is the world’s first smart band that automatically tracks calorie intake without requiring you to log your meals.

But how exactly does it work?

GoBe Tracks Energy Absorbed by Your Body

GoBe doesn’t know what you eat — instead, it measures how much energy your body actually absorbs.

When you digest food, glucose enters your bloodstream. As your cells absorb that glucose, they release water. GoBe’s patented HEALBE FLOW™ Technology uses a bioimpedance sensor to detect fluid shifts associated with glucose absorption and then calculates your calorie intake from that data.

In other words, GoBe detects when your body is receiving energy from food, or even from your own internal reserves (like fat or glycogen stores).

When Does Calorie Absorption Happen?

You might expect to see your meal’s calories show up right away, but digestion is a gradual process. Here’s a general timeline:

Stage

Timeframe

Chewing & Swallowing

1–2 hours

Digestion By Digestive Fluids

3–4 hours

Nutrient Breakdown & Absorption

4–9 hours (or more for complex meals)

Complete Absorption

9–24 hours, depending on meal composition

Some nutrients (like simple sugars) enter the bloodstream within 30 minutes, while heavy or complex meals can take 9–10+ hours to fully process.

Because digestion takes time, you’ll see more accurate calorie data if you check the app the day after your meal, after 12:00 PM, when the data has fully processed.

What About Fasting, Keto, or Exercise?

Even if you’re fasting, on a low-carb diet, or simply didn’t eat much, GoBe may show calorie intake. That's because GoBe tracks all calories absorbed by the body. That includes:

  • Energy from food

  • Energy released from internal reserves (fat, glycogen, ketones)

At this time, GoBe doesn’t distinguish between calories from food vs. internal stores, but all sources of energy are shown in your intake total.

How to Get the Best Accuracy:

  • Wear your GoBe for 22–23 hours per day.
Shorter wear times significantly affect data quality.

  • Weigh yourself regularly.
Adding 5+ weigh-ins to the app over 2 weeks helps the algorithm calibrate to your body.

Bottom Line:

GoBe tracks calories absorbed into the bloodstream, not just what you consume. If you don’t see your meal immediately reflected in the app, be patient — absorption takes time!
