GoBe Uses Heart Rate to Estimate Calorie Burn
GoBe calculates calories burned during physical activity based primarily on your heart rate - not on the type of activity.
This means that for any given activity, if your heart rate stays relatively low, the calorie burn will also appear low. Two people doing the same activity may get different results depending on how their body responds.
Basal Metabolism Is Not Included in Activity Burn
Another important point: GoBe does not include your BMR (basal metabolic rate) in the calorie burn for a specific activity.
Your BMR - the calories your body burns to maintain basic functions like breathing and circulation - is calculated separately and shown for the full day in the app.
In contrast, many other fitness apps and trackers include BMR within the activity-based calorie total, which may lead to higher numbers in their reports.
We Are Still Improving the Algorithm
Our engineering team is actively working on improving activity recognition and energy burn accuracy. The current algorithm is relatively new, and we're continuously fine-tuning it to better reflect different types of movement and personal data.
