GoBe2 uses a piezo pressure sensor that detects changes in the blood pressure on the vessel walls. This allows most accurately determine a person's heart rate at rest and its change in moderate physical activity throughout the day. However, the accuracy of pulse measurements during exercise may decrease if your hands are not active enough during the workout (treadmill, cycle, elliptical, and some weight training workouts).
Integrated piezo sensor also allows to save energy as the smart band can work up to two days without recharging constantly estimating your heart rate.
The heart rate values at rest, as well as during and after physical activities are important indicators of your cardiovascular system's health. To control these parameters constantly it is important to observe how the pulse changes during the day, which you can do using the HEALBE GoBe app. In the "Heart" section of the app you will see the daily chart showing your heart rate changes based on the 5-minute average values. GoBe2's display shows only real-time values, measurements being taken every 5 seconds.
Your heart rate values can be influenced by different factors:
The general condition of the cardiovascular system: the better it is, the lower is the heart rate reading. For a professional athlete at the top of their physical condition, a resting heart rate measurement could be as low as 30-40 beats per minute. If a low heart rate reading is not accompanied by dizziness, fainting or weakness, the low heart rate usually indicates good physical health.
Emotional condition: the cardiovascular system reacts to surrounding events in different ways for different people. Emotions can increase or decrease someone’s heart rate depending on the emotional susceptibility of that person.
Bodily and environmental temperature: the lower the temperature, the slower the heart beats. For example, someone in a warm bath may experience the same heart rate measurement as they would in a fitness class.
Weight: Obese people often have a high heart rate as the heart muscle has to work harder.
Drinking alcohol and smoking: these two habits will cause the heart muscle to beat faster.
The use of certain medications: can raise and lower the heart rate depending on their composition.
As there are a large number of different factors affecting one's resting heart rate, it can vary significantly from day to day. That’s why it is important to monitor changes in the range of the average resting heart rate for longer periods of time (over the course of a week, a month or more).
If you monitor your heart rate over time and implement healthy lifestyle choices, you will notice your heart rate may change and your overall state of health will improve.
