GoBe2: What is a Smart Alarm?

GoBe2, how does the smart alarm feature work

Written by Maria

What is a smart alarm and why is it smart? The Smart Alarm function of GoBe2 will prompt you to wake during the REM phase of sleep, known as the easiest time to wake from. During REM (random eye movement) sleep, the brain’s manner of functioning is closest to being awake (REM sleep is also the phase of sleep associated with dreaming). Using the accelerometer and piezo sensor, GoBe2 recognizes when you are in REM sleep based on your body movements and heart rate, and then sends you an alarm during your last REM cycle before your scheduled wake time, reducing grogginess and fatigue throughout the day.

To set a Smart Alarm:

Tap the smart band icon in the top-left corner of the main screen and select “Smart Alarms”,

or

tap the “Sleep” icon on the main screen of the app and select “Smart Alarms.”

On the Smart Alarm settings screen, you can either set a wake-up time window (for the time-based alarm) or choose the desired sleep quality level.

The Smart Alarm feature will detect if there is a REM phase during the indicated time period and will go off at the end of the REM phase. This makes waking up considerably less stressful for your body. If no REM phase has been detected, the alarm will go off at the exact time you have set.
